As a REALTOR®, a lot of people ask me about where to get crime info for St. Petersburg, Tampa, and surrounding areas. They also ask about the safety in certain neighborhoods, which I cannot say due to the fact it could be considered steering. Plus, it is truthfully hard to say. Anything can happen in any neighborhood in any given day.
So the best place to get your answers is from the source, and then draw your own conclusions based on that, as well as an in person tour of the neighborhood.
In Saint Petersburg they have a site set up that has mapped all the incoming police calls and their nature. You can also select to show ClickFixes, which are reports of things like potholes, drainage issues, graffiti, etc, Code Violations, Fire calls, and Rescue calls. You can choose a date range you want displayed as well. It’s pretty handy.
For Tampa and other areas around the Tampa Bay region, you can visit the map they have in conjunction with LexisNexis to view mapped crimes. There too you can refine by the date, type of crime.
You can also zoom out and see the surrounding areas, keep zooming and you can see anywhere in the country that participates in the data sharing.
So there you have a couple places to get information on crime in both St. Petersburg and Tampa. I hope you find it helpful in your home search.
